Grass in the Hall is back for its 3rd year as part of The Charleston Music Hall Piccolo Spoleto Concert Series with three amazing local bluegrass bands. If you love bluegrass, you will love the music stylings of Southern Flavor Bluegrass Band, River Boy, & The Bluestone Ramblers.

Founded in 2006 by guitarist Sandy Nivens and mandolin player Keith McCullough, the Bluestone Ramblers are a Lowcountry bluegrass band headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to Nivens and McCullough, Gary Payne on the banjo, and Shawn Beckner on the bass. Hailing from varied and distinct Southern backgrounds, their sound is heavily influenced by the likes of Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Seldom Scene, and Hot Rize. The quintet is a staple on stage across the Carolinas with headlining appearances at the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the Lowcountry Oyster Festival, Harvest Festival, in addition to private events.
River Boy
River Boy
River Boy is an all-acoustic band based in Charleston, SC blending original Bluegrass and Americana tunes with traditional ones. Their first album, self-titled, received airplay across the country and internationally on radio stations like WNCW in North Carolina, WDVX in Tennessee, WAMU in Washington, D.C., KVMR in California and Grand 101 in Ontario. Each band member brings his special ingredients to the mix making the River Boy experience both familiar and new to the audience.

Shayne Floyd leads the group with rhythm guitar, lead vocals and song-writing. Kenny Barnes – a bluegrass legend in the Charleston area – plays the upright bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. Tom DeLorge trades off banjo and resonator guitar (aka Dobro), and Dr. Jared Fisher plays mandolin along with some harmony vocals. This bands insists on having a good time and you will feel it in their live performance. River Boy plans to release a 2nd album of all original songs in 2017, as well as a 3rd album of Traditional Bluegrass and Americana cover songs.

SOUTHERN FLAVOR BLUEGRASS BAND is comprised of F,.B.Del Porto, lead & rhythm guitar, lead & harmony vocals, Anthony Del Porto, bass , lead & harmony vocals, Kevin Gore, banjo, and George B. Del Porto mandolin , lead & harmony vocals. We specialize in tight family harmony (blood harmony, as they say in the mountains), doing a mixture of traditional and progressive bluegrass music on all acoustic instruments.
