SPRUILL Art Opening
This new body of work focuses on Spruill Avenue, a long, winding road up the “Neck”, connecting the carefully curated, tourism driven peninsula to North Charleston. Through this exploration of architectural individuality proliferant on Spruill, I aim to encourage a thoughtful dialogue concerning Charleston's historical significance and the impact of gentrification.
Works by Alex Waggoner
Alex graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 2012. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina and paints in her home studio. Her paintings are based on the traditional American Southern urban landscapes and architecture that surround her in Charleston. Employing the dreamy color palette abundant in the mysterious Charleston environment, she contrasts these Southern images with meticulous paint application. Her aim is to ignite a thoughtful appreciation of the sweet, forgotten spaces in-between which could vanish any day.
