Cinerruption LIVE! Speed
We are thrilled to continue our new series called Cinerruption LIVE: A perilously ridiculous landscape where improv comedy and film collide! This installment of Cinerruption LIVE will feature the classic the '90s film Speed. Just like for Top Gun, will have 3 of Charleston's funniest comedians, Jason Groce, Jessica Mickey, and Hagan Ragland on 3 mics, so you will be able to hear their commentary as they point out the sheer comedic awesomeness that makes bad/funny "B" movies so good!
Jason is a Greenville, SC native who has lived in Charleston for 17 years as a bartender and graphic designer. He started doing improv comedy at Theatre 99 in 2005 and is a regular performer in their programming. He has done standup for over eight years and has opened for several national acts, performed at TedX, won a few comedy competitions, and has performed in a bunch of festivals, with both stand up and improv, along the way. He finally did his own solo sketch show in 2017, which he really enjoyed but made him very tired. He lives in North Charleston with Gaines, a sweet rescue pit bull.
Jessica Mickey has performed, written, and promoted various forms of comedy in the Lowcountry for more than 12 years. A company member at Charleston's Theatre 99 since 2003, she regularly performs locally and regionally as stand-up comedian, writer, and improviser. Mickey is a founding member of improv foursome Mary Kay has a Posse and the two-person team Little Miss Codependent. She has has written and performed sketch comedy with various groups and hosted and presented stand-up comedy events at numerous Charleston venues as well.
Hagan Ragland is a five year veteran of the Charleston Comedy Scene. Wearing one of his trademark Hawaiian shirts, you can find him stirring up laughter tackling subjects such as having a Japanese grandmother and what not to do while drinking. ln 2016 Hagan won 2nd place in Charleston’s Comedy Festival Stand Up Competition. His podcast “The Petty Couch” is nominated for Charleston City Paper’s “Best Podcast Of 2017” and even produced a full length video last year dubbed “The Petty Couch Halloween Special”. Whether it be storytelling, sketch, or stand up-you can find Hagan conducting his act very loudly and with enough energy to light up the room.
