Grass in the Hall
Grass in the Hall is back for its 4th year as part of The Charleston Music Hall Piccolo Spoleto Series with three amazing bluegrass bands. If you love bluegrass, you will love the musical stylings of Gravel Road, River Boy, Chatham County Line!
Gravel Road
Gravel Road
Gravel Road Bluegrass, based out of Charleston, South Carolina, is made up of multi-talented musicians whose different backgrounds bring together a unique and exciting mix of music that includes bluegrass, country, and popular favorites. Before settling in the Lowcountry, their members toured individually across the United States and other parts of the world with major country and bluegrass artists. Gravel Road performs across the southeast and has appeared on "Lowcountry Live" as well as "Song of the Mountains," filmed in Marion, Virginia. The group's unique arrangements of tunes along with their vocal harmony precision and original material make them stand out from the average bluegrass band.
River Boy
River Boy
River Boy is an all-acoustic band based in Charleston, SC blending original Bluegrass and Americana tunes with traditional ones. Their first album, self-titled, received airplay across the country and internationally on radio stations like WNCW in North Carolina, WDVX in Tennessee, WAMU in Washington, D.C., KVMR in California and Grand 101 in Ontario. Each band member brings his special ingredients to the mix making the River Boy experience both familiar and new to the audience. Shayne Floyd leads the group with rhythm guitar, lead vocals and song-writing. Kenny Barnes – a bluegrass legend in the Charleston area – plays the upright bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. Tom DeLorge trades off banjo and resonator guitar (aka Dobro), and Dr. Jared Fisher plays mandolin along with some harmony vocals. This bands insists on having a good time and you will feel it in their live performance. River Boy plans to release a 2nd album of all original songs in 2018, as well as a 3rd album of traditional and cover songs.
Chatham County Line
Chatham County Line
Chatham County Line got their start in the late '90s when guitarist Dave Wilson and bassist Greg Readling began playing under the name Stillhouse. After a jam session or two with banjoist Chandler Holt and mando player John Teer, Wilson suggested they start a band and Chatham County Line was born. Well-deserving of inclusion on a list of America’s best modern string bands, CCL have released seven albums and toured hundred of thousands of miles.
