We Are the World - Election Day Concert
The Charleston Music Hall is thrilled to present We Are the World – An Election Day Concert on Tuesday, November 6th at 7:30PM! WAIT! Before you read any further – watch this video of the original We Are the World recording from 1985 - https://bit.ly/1b0ZswE. TALK ABOUT SUPERSTARS. You can see the full list of performers who are on the recording below. The idea of the show: have local performers perform a song by each of the artists on “We Are the World;” For instance, Dan Hanf might be performing “Thunder Road” by Bruce Springsteen, and Jordan Igoe could be performing “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and at the end of the night have all the performers (21 Humans) perform “We are the World” in all its choral glory! This show is brain child of the lovely Lindsay Holler. In order to encourage people to get out and vote during the midterm election and to promote love and harmony between all humans in these divided times and to have some fun, Holler and the Music Hall Team are bringing the show to The Music Hall on election night. Entry to the concert will only be $5 if you wear your “I Voted” sticker or you can go ahead and reserve your tickets for $12.

“We are the world. We are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving. There's a choice we're making. We're saving our own lives. It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me.”

"We Are the World" is a song and charity single originally recorded by the supergroup United Support of Artists (USA) for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones for the album We Are the World. With sales in excess of 20 million copies, it is one of the fewer than 30 all-time physical singles to have sold at least 10 million copies worldwide.

Charleston-based songwriter/musician Lindsay Holler, a seasoned vocalist and bandleader, was just a kid when she first saw the video for “We Are the World.” “I might’ve been 9 or so when I first saw the video for ‘We Are the World,’ so I was pretty impressed,” Holler remembers. “Michael Jackson was my jam back then. I thought it was pretty rad to see that group of people together.”
