Romeo and Juliet
Event Description
South Carolina Ballet presents Romeo & Juliet on February 11th at the Charleston Music Hall. The Greatest love story the world has ever known. Starring Principal Dancers Claire Rapp and Joshua Van Dyke as the star-crossed lovers.
William Starrett, South Carolina Ballet’s CEO and Artistic Director, first brought his vision of Romeo and Juliet to the stage in 1985. This latest staging continues his legacy of blending Shakespeare’s timeless tale with the evocative power of ballet. The story of the young lovers caught between feuding families unfolds through highly expressive choreography, encompassing passionate duets, dramatic sword fights, and a heart-wrenching finale. Romeo and Juliet remains one of the most beloved ballets worldwide, and Starrett’s interpretation is one of South Carolina Ballet’s showpieces.
